Adrian Stuart Grond
Adrian grew up and was educated in Switzerland. After graduating from Biel / Bienne Polytechnical College he joined the Swiss luxury watch industry, specialising in the development of the cutting and polishing techniques of sapphire watch cases.
Adrian then travelled extensively throughout the world collecting artefacts and materials, whilst also studying local jewellery making, as well as gemstones and lapidary techniques. In 1990 he graduated as a gemmologist from the Gemmological Institute of America. Shortly after he moved to England where he became a registered silver / goldsmith (hallmarks in London) and established his first workshop and gallery, Phantoms of Time‚ in Bath, selling antiques, fine art, plus of course fine gemstones - specialising in rare fine amber and black opal. This was to become his first platform to promote his own jewellery creations and he has developed a unique style of jewellery making, favouring ancient traditional techniques. In addition while in England, he studied and gained experience as a gilder and restorer of antique objects and fine art.
Back in Switzerland he worked as a diamond dealer for the Swiss luxury industry, and undertook successful mandates as a gem buyer / gemmologist, designer and specialist high end project manager for watches and jewellery.
The extensive experience Adrian has gained in all fields and aspects of the arts are reflected today in his passion as an artist, with the creation of fine objects and the discovering / researching / collecting / purveying / restoration of fine art and antiques.
